2024 - 2025: Men's Captain

From the moment I joined the club, I knew it was something special, and I am really looking forward to the year ahead.

- Martin Finn, Men's Captain -

I have been a member of Wimbledon Common Golf Club for over 20 years, and I am delighted to be starting my second stint as Mens Captain.

From the moment I joined the club I knew it was something special, and I am really looking forward to the year ahead.

We are privileged to play on an excellent course on the Common, suitable for golfers of all standards and ages, and our hardworking greens team strive to keep it in tip top condition all year round.

I will make sure I play on it with as many members as possible in the next 12 months, whether they be old friends and established members, or more importantly newer members, as a way of helping them settle into the club.

We play a wide range of social and competitive golf at Wimbledon Common Golf Club, so if anyone out there is considering joining a club, please come along and give ours a try, you won’t be disappointed!
Lastly I would like to thank James Wilson, who has kindly agreed to be my Vice Captain, I am sure he will do a great job this year.

I look forward to working with James, and alongside Ladies Captain Pam Jennings, and Ladies Vice Captain Morag Nicolson.

Many thanks
Martin Finn

2024 - 2025: Lady Captain

I have never regretted my choice of Wimbledon Common Golf Club. You would have to go a long way to find such a friendly bunch of people.

- Pam Jennings, Lady Captain -

I became a member of the Club in 2014, having first joined the Academy. The Academy was my first ever introduction to golf and I was hooked from the start, though my abilities have never quite matched up to my enthusiasm! I really regret taking it up quite so late in life as golf is certainly a much harder sport than I’d imagined.

Although the course can be challenging at times, I have never regretted my choice of Wimbledon Common Golf Club. You would have to go a long way to find such a friendly bunch of people.

The Ladies’ Section is going from strength to strength. Several lady members have stepped forward to ensure the Wednesday and Friday roll-ups are well attended, organising fun competitions and encouraging everyone to join in. The diary is packed with internal and external competitions, so there are plenty of opportunities to play competitively as well as socially, and also many chances to play on other courses.

Like Martin, I want to play with a wide range of players, especially new members and those of the Academy who are keen to do a few holes. I am lucky to have the support of a lovely Vice Captain, Morag Nicolson, and we in turn are supported by a wonderful Committee so I am looking forward to a great year ahead.
